Nesbitt commits to Ole Miss

Point guard Valerie Nesbitt will join coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin and the Ole Miss Rebels’ women’s basketball team in the fall of 2019, Eyewitness News Sports understands.

Nesbitt, who is widely considered one of the top junior college point guards in the nation, averaged 10.5 points, three assists and three rebounds per game as a freshman at Chipola College.

Nesbitt competed locally for the C.V. Bethel Stingrays girls team and also competed as a member of the Bahamas women’s basketball team in June, helping the team to a third-place finish at the Caribbean Women’s Championship in Suriname.

She averaged a team-high 14.5 points per game in just over 31 minutes per game. Nesbitt also put up 3.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists and 3.5 steals.

On Monday, the 5’6” guard was named as the most outstanding player of the 11th annual National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Showcase, which was held in Decatur, Georgia.

The game featured 40 of the nation’s top junior college players.
