Murder count climbs to 94 after fatal shooting, stabbing

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police are investigating the country’s 94th homicide after a man was gunned down while riding a bicycle in Grand Bahama.

According to police, the man was riding in the Redwood Lane and Carissa Street area shortly before 11pm on Wednesday.

“Officers responded and met the lifeless body of a male lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds about the body,” the report read.

Police in New Providence were called to the scene of a fatal stabbing earlier that day.

According to reports, a man was stabbed to death during an altercation with a group of men at Elizabeth Avenue and Bay Street shortly after 2am.

Paramedics attempted to revive the man; however he was pronounced dead on the scene.

In other crime news, police are investigating a shooting in the area of Flax Street off Malcolm Road on Tuesday night.

According to reports, a man was walking in the area when an armed man exited a Nissan Note and opened fire on him shortly before 8pm.

The injured man is listed in serious but stable condition, police said.
