Preliminaries set for tomorrow, with final competition to be held this Sunday

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — In its fourth year, the Miss Teen Bahamas International (MTBI) organization has established itself as the premier competition for aspiring young women between the ages of 13 and 18. The organization has successfully showcased some of the country’s most beautiful and intelligent young ladies, all while adhering to the COVID-19 protocols.

The organizers are not about to stop this dynamic program anytime soon. Young ladies are interested in bettering themselves and pursuing opportunities both at home and abroad. This organization helps with that and so much more.

This year, the organization can boast of three Family Island contestants, whose families are extremely supportive and sacrificing to ensure their girls are ready.

Each year, contestants choose a platform they intend to work with and that is a passionate topic for them. This year’s platforms are logical, articulate and personal. In the near future, Miss Teen Bahamas International plans to put its efforts into creating a forum where young women can express themselves, share their stories and make a difference in communities.

“They all have personal stories behind their platform, which makes this specific program so much more exciting,” she said. “It also intensifies the competition because the young ladies are so entwined in their passion.”

National Pageant Director Monalisa McPhee said she is in love with the increased response from the Family Islands.

“Every year it gets better and better,” she said. “We have actual contestants from the islands they represent. It is common in pageants to have a field of New Providence participants who chose Family Islands, but our pageant has attracted actual residents from these beautiful spots, which speaks volumes to the development and reach of our organization.”

Miss Teen Abaco Jana Bootle said: “This pageant has been such an amazing experience. I have truly enjoyed every step of the way.
