The University of The Bahamas Mingoes men’s basketball team lost to the Discount Distributors Rockets for the second time this season 88-81 Wednesday night at the C.I. Gibson gym.

Lerecus Armbrister lead the Rockets with 18 points and four assists. Georgio Walkes scored 17 and eight rebounds while David Taylor scored 16 to go along with five rebounds.

Kemsy Sylvester had 29 points and 12 rebounds in the loss for the Mingoes. Romero Cornish scored 19 points and four rebounds and Travaughn Nicholls had 10 points and three rebounds.

Midway through the second quarter, Mingoes forward Travaughn Nicholls scored and then went down with an apparent knee injury. In the previous game starting point guard, Ramon Dames was also injured. Both players are possibly out for the remainder of the season.

“In the end we came through with some big shot and made it kind of close,” head coach Bacchus Rolle said. “The guys’ spirts are high.  We’ve lost our starting point guard Ramon Dames probably for the rest of the season and then we lost Nichols for the rest of the season.  But we are going to fight.”

The Mingoes next play The Pirates at 9:00 p.m. Saturday at C.I Gibson gym.
