NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Shaunae Miller-Uibo turned in a strong performance in the women’s 400 meters (m) yesterday at the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston, Jamaica.
Miller-Uibo clocked a new meet record in a first place finish, crossing the line in 49.54 seconds, more than a second ahead of world champion Phyllis Francis (50.85).
Despite her margin of victory, Miller-Uibo, who opened the season with 49.05 in Florida in April, said she wasn’t impressed with her first 400 in Kingston.
“I think today wasn’t really a good run,” she said following the race. “I’m working on a lot of things trying to perfect my race but I’m happy I finished healthy which is important.”
