Men charged with killing in the course of dangerous driving

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police reported on Monday, May 2, 2019, that Ricardo Butler appeared before Magistrate Caroline Vogt-Evans in court number six, charged with killing in the course of dangerous driving.

Butler’s arraignment was in connection with a matter that occurred on Monday, April 1, 2019, in which motorcyclist Tito Ferguson was struck by a truck off his motorcycle and succumbed at the scene.

The defendant pleaded guilty and was fined $10,000 or one year in prison.

Also on Monday, Elton Hart, along with Roscoe Johnson, both appeared before Magistrate Caroline Vogt-Evans, reference to a traffic fatality that occurred on Blue Hill Road on March 25, 2019, in which pedestrian Leon Cooper was killed.

Hart was charged with killing in the course of dangerous driving.

He pleaded guilty to the offense and was fined $10,000 or one year in prison.

Hart’s driver’s license was also suspended.

Meanwhile Roscoe Johnson was charged with dangerous and reckless driving, driving while not covered by third party risk insurance and driving without a driver’s license.

Johnson pleaded guilty to all offences and was fined $5,950 or one year in prison.

Fines were ordered to be paid in full by the end of the day yesterday.
