With rolling blackouts expected in New Providence this summer, President of the Bahamas Electrical Workers Union (BEWU) Paul Maynard said, the new liquified natural gas (LNG) power plant would bring much needed relief to consumers and stabilize an aged generation system.

He noted that he shared this advice with senior government officials, even though concerns have been expressed by the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation on the request for proposals (RFP) process for the new power plant to be constructed by Shell at Clifton Pier.
