The widespread debate swirling around the legalisation of marijuana continued Friday as President of Marijuana Bahamas Renaldo Cartwright expressed frustration with the fact that successive governments have failed to address the issue.

Cartwright maintained during an interview with Eyewitness News that the legalisation of marijuana would mean a more prosperous Bahamian economy.

The discussion comes on the heels of a major drug seizure on Thursday where some 18 bales, with an estimated value of almost half a million dollars were seized and also just days ahead of Cabinet naming the national committee that will be tasked with leading a meaningful national debate on the issue.
