Man charged with the country’s first murder

NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Marvin Martin, 43, was charged on Tuesday with the murder of Terrance “coke head” Rolle.

Rolle was the country’s first murder victim of 2019.

Rolle died on New Year’s Day shortly after 11:00 a.m., while walking with other persons on Market Street in the vicinity of C.R. Walker Senior School.

According to police reports, Rolle was approached by a male armed with a firearm, who shot him before running away. Paramedics were called to the scene and transported Rolle to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, Martin was not required to enter a plea and he was not granted bail.  He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until February 11.
