Man charged with murder

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A 37-year-old man was charged yesterday with the murder of Alejandro Bain, who was gunned down more than seven years ago.

Jermaine Scott of Dominica Street appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.

He was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he made his court appearance.

He is expected to return to court on December 3 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI), which will move the case to the Supreme Court.

Scott was denied bail.

Bain was murdered in April 2013.

A group of Bain’s relatives stood outside of the Magistrate’s Court wearing t-shirts with his face.

His sister, Desiree Moss, said the family is seeking closure and intend to follow the proceedings in hopes justice is served for the father of one.

His father, Alexander, held a framed photo of his son and grandson as the family spoke to the media.

Authorities issued several wanted bulletins for Scott since the murder, in April 2013 and June 2017.
