The Mako Aquatic Club emerged victorious on Monday at the Bahamas Swimming Federation’s National Swimming Championships, held at the Betty Kelly-Kenning Aquatic Centre.

The team scored 2,076.50 points to win the competition. Alpha Aquatics Club finished in second place with 1,073.50 points and The Grand Bahama Tritons finished in third place with 864 points.

Coach Travano McPhee said he couldn’t be more proud of the swimmers.

“They came out and showed up, breaking multiple national records,” McPhee added.

Keianna Moss, Devante Carey and Nigel Forbes, all set records during the four-day competition.

Many swimmers were able to make qualifying times for both the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Federation (CCCAN) Championships and the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games.

The CCCAN Championships are set for June 26 to July 6 in Aruba. The CAC Games are set for July 19 to August 3 in Barranquilla, Columbia.
