Major set to compete in Senior Judo Baku

Judoka Breanna Major is in the process of preparing to represent The Bahamas at the highest level of international competition.  The weeklong 2018 Judo World Championships Seniors and Teams Baku kicks off on September 20th in Azerbaijan.

Major will compete in the women’s under-70 kilogram (kg) division and will be coached by Omri Kelly, a level-one graduate of the International Judo Federation (IJF) Academy.

“Breanna has worked hard and we expect a good showing from her at the competition,” said Bahamas Judo Federation (BJF) President D’Arcy Rahming Sr.

“We have brought in international coaches to help our athletes prepare to take on elite level competition, and now, we are ready to put Bahamas Judo on the map.

“We’re right up there with some of the Judo powerhouses, and we’ve just really gotten started.”

Major, who recently helped The Bahamas win the CARIFTA Judo Championships, will also represent the country at the upcoming World Junior Judo Championships.

The World Juniors take place in New Providence in October.
