NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Faculty, students, parents, and community partners of Lyford Cay International School (LCIS) celebrated the topping off of its new Secondary School campus yesterday.

The campus is located just behind the Island House hotel and St Paul’s Church, and is one of only 36 schools in the world to offer all four prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes.

The contractor recently reached the highest point in the construction with the installation of a captivating clocktower that sits atop the centre of the main Gateway Building, according to a release.

This building will serve as the focal point of Phase 1 of the masterplan to enhance and fully develop both of the school’s properties into one of the most highly advanced educational institutions in the region.

Breaking ground in April 2019, construction has progressed as scheduled and is expected to be completed in May 2020.

As of August 2020, students in Grades 7-12 will be taught in the new, state-of-the-art facilities made available through the construction of the campus.

:It is a celebration of the world-class learning experiences that have propelled LCIS forward from a small community school to a global leader in education. It is a celebration of the impact that this learning will have on future generations of young people in this country.”

The new campus will boast dedicated spaces for enhanced teaching and learning, including a state-of-the-art Physics Lab, Design Makerspace, Library, Art Studio and Music Room. Early Learning Centre (18 months-Kindergarten) and Elementary School (Grades 1-6) students will be based at the original campus within the Lyford Cay community.

The original campus has also seen improvements and expansion in recent years and will continue to be enhanced with the additional space made available.
