Bahamians seeking home ownership through government are expected to receive a major discount.

Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon Hubert Minnis, shared details on the new initiative yesterday.  The venture was first announced by the prime minister during his national New Year’s address. The low-cost lots land initiative is expected to spur economic growth with land being made available as early as June when government’s budget is completed.

Housing Minister Romauld Ferreira told Eyewitness News that the land will be situated in West New Providence. The plan, according to Dr. Minnis, will mean Bahamians will be able to do more with less.

He indicated that government will first have review land reform with legislation already pending.
