Loved by many, Theresa Moxey-Ingraham remembered in memorial service
The late Theresa Moxey-Ingraham.

A woman with a bold and courageous spirit, one who helped take the Bahamas into finer nation-hood, is how former Cabinet minister the late Theresa Moxey- Ingraham was remembered yesterday in a solemn memorial service at her Free National Movement (FNM) party headquarters on Wednesday.

Scores of family, friends and colleagues attended the emotional memorial service, where she was remembered by the country’s commander in chief, who described her as a woman who loved her country.

“Her death serves as a great loss to The Bahamas but she can now be with the God she loved,” Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis said of Moxey-Ingraham, who he said possessed a vibrant spirit and lived life fully and with great enthusiasm.

“We have lost her too soon.

“The late Theresa Moxey-Ingraham was a woman of boundless energy and charisma. You knew when Theresa was in the room; she had a tremendous presence and was always full of life.

“She loved her family and friends, her God and most certainly, her country.  As a true FNM, she spoke her mind with conviction and with passion.

“She would tell you when she thought you were right and she would let you know with no uncertain terms, when she thought you were wrong.

“She bore FNM torch with pride helping to reignite our flame and spirit in good times and in difficult times.”

Dr. Minnis continued, “To rescue her country from the miss rule of a then government party that was destroying our Bahamas through mass corruption and undemocratic governance, Theresa was determined to renew democracy during the FNM’s great victory in 1992, when she became the member of parliament for Golden Gates.”

The Former Cabinet Minister died nearly two weeks ago at her home. Police classified her passing as a sudden death.

After a ten-year political career, Ingraham most recently served as the chairperson of the National Training Agency.
