Lloyd: Issues at Black Point All-Age School are being addressed

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After teachers and students at the Black Point All-Age School in Exuma led a sit out earlier this week to protest a number of issues plaguing the school, Minister of Education Jeffrey Lloyd assured on Tuesday that all matters are being addressed.

“It is very unfortunate at Black Point,” Lloyd told reporters before heading to Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting.

“That situation has been allowed to fester now for many years, but it is being addressed as we speak, and it is being undertaken by our Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mr. Donovan Turnquest and the team from the Ministry of Works.”

In several photos sent to Eyewitness News Online earlier this week, one can see what appears to be mould in several classrooms and bathrooms the Black Point All-Age School.

There were also dirty bathroom stalls, missing windows and filthy walls.

Chester Cooper, Member of Parliament for Exuma and Ragged had also expressed that the school had been in a deplorable state since last August and he accused the Minnis administration of failing the children of Black Point Exuma.
