Junkanoo groups have been given the financial greenlight by the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture earlier this week to continue their preparations for the 2018/2019 Junkanoo parade.
Some $648,000 was dished out to share among 117 groups.
According to Youth Sports and Culture Minister, Lanisha Rolle, this was the earliest groups have received funding in the history of the parade.
She also mentioned that she is very excited for the parade and the spirit of the Bahamian people to awaken through the music and costumes.
Tickets for the Boxing Day Junkanoo parade went on sale Friday.
