It’s been a whirlwind recruitment ride for Kai Jones up to this point.

From being virtually unknown on the grassroots basketball scene, to being one of the most sought-after high school prospects in just a matter of months, Jones is taking it all stride.

In an interview with Eyewitness News Sports, the 6’10” forward said it’s been a fun journey maneuvering through the ranks, but this season he’s looking to solidify his spot as one of the best in the nation.

Jones, who will suit up for the Brewster Academy this season, said he wants to display a better overall game as he prepares to enter the collegiate ranks next year.

“This has been a fun process. I have been enjoying it and I look forward to getting better every day,” Jones said.

“Although it has been a whirlwind experience, it’s also been a blessing. Now it’s up to me to get out there and continue to work on my craft and get better.”

Jones is hoping his move to Brewster from Orlando Christian Prep can help him make the leap in his senior year.

“I like the coaching at Brewster. I also saw that it was a family environment. They are known for doing a lot with tall, versatile players like me,” he said.

“They have already put a few guys in the NBA, and I feel they’re the best to help me reach my goals. I just want to get stronger, improve my handle and make myself undeniable.

“As far as the season goes, my goal is to not lose a game. We have a good squad that could win every game, so I don’t expect to lose.”

ESPN rates Jones a 4-star prospect and the No. 26 center in the nation for the 2019 class. So far, he’s received offers from Arkansas, Stanford, Florida State, Arizona, Georgetown, Kansas, Iowa State, Oregon, Texas and numerous others.
