The Islands of The Bahamas Showcase kicks off today at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.
Eight National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams will compete over the course of the three-day event.
According to BD Global Founder Brooks Downing, the Islands of The Bahamas Showcase was designed to feature smaller schools that aren’t afforded as much opportunities to travel as the larger programs.
“All of the teams participating will quickly come to find out what a great place The Bahamas is,” Downing said.
We set out to make The Bahamas a destination location for sporting events, and we feel we are well on our way.
“This tournament was designed for non-power schools. These are schools that are too good for the big schools to take a risk playing them.”
Teams participating in this year’s event include Montana, North Dakota State, Incarnate Word, Georgia Southern, Florida Atlantic, Towson, the University of Miami (Ohio) and Pepperdine.
