NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Chief Immigration Officer Bradley McDonald succumbed to his injuries following a traffic crash in Abaco yesterday.
McDonald, a father of four, had just arrived on the island on Friday.
Superintendent Shanta Knowles said McDonald and another man were traveling in a Jeep Wrangler when the driver lost control of the vehicle and overturned shortly before 3pm.
Police have not yet identified the deceased; however, relatives yesterday confirmed McDonald succumbed to his injuries.
The other passenger has been identified as Immigration officer Ivan Conyers.
The men were reportedly headed west on Earnest Dean Highway, near to Sandy Point.
“Both men received serious injuries and were transported to the Medical Facility in Marsh Harbour, where one of the men succumbed to his injuries,” Knowles said.
“The second man was airlifted to New Providence for further medical attention. Officers from the RBPF Traffic Department will travel to Abaco to continue investigations into this incident.”
The Department of Immigration released a statement on McDonald’s death yesterday.
“The Department of Immigration expresses condolences to the family, friends and entry squad of 1986 on the tragic death of Mr. Bradley McDonald, Chief Immigration Officer,” the statement read.
“We extend gratitude to his entire family for his dedicated service to the country and take time to acknowledge his passing.
The statement continued: “May there be comfort in knowing that someone so special will never be forgotten. May He who knows your sorrow bring Peace, Comfort, and Healing to your soul.
“Words seem inadequate to express the sorrow felt by your loss but know that the Department of Immigration is praying that God keep you during this your time of bereavement.
“May his soul rest in peace.”
