Illegals charged in court on various counts

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Twenty-seven Haitians, one Jamaican and one Bahamian were charged in the magistrate’s court on Monday with illegal landing, overstaying and illegal entry.

The group pleaded guilty to all the charges and were cautioned before being conditionally discharged.

Additionally, the Jamaican national was convicted with overstaying and fined $5,000 or two months in The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

The Haitians were turned over to the Department of Immigration.
