Illegal firearms recovered, two arrested

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police in the capital recovered three illegal firearms and a quantity of marijuana in separate incidents on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.

In the first incident, shortly after 1:00 p.m., Drug Enforcement Officers, assisted by K9 Unit Officers, acting on information, conducted a search of a residence on Spence Street off Masons Addition and recovered a .380mm pistol, six rounds of ammunition, along with a quantity of marijuana.

The marijuana weighed 3lbs with a street value of  $3,000.

Two adult males who were in the residence at the time of the search were taken into custody and are expected to be formally charged before a magistrate court this week.

In the second incident, shortly after 9:00 p.m., South Eastern Division Officers, acting on information, conducted a search of an abandoned vehicle on Airdale Drive South Beach and recovered a green .9mm Pistol and a black .45 pistol and four rounds of ammunition.

No arrests were made in this incident.
