IL Cares Foundation hosts kids’ carnival in GB

Nassau carnival for kids set for Dec. 15, Clifford Park

Scores of kids accompanied by parents and guardians gathered at the East Sunrise Park in Freeport, Grand Bahama over the weekend to enjoy the IL Cares Kids’ Carnival. It was the first time that the event for kids was held in the nation’s second city.

Marketing Manager of the IL Cares Foundation, Michelle Fox, referred to the event as “the big bang for kids.”

“This is what we’re about, giving to the less fortunate. We live to see the smiles on the kids’ faces,” Fox said.

But kids were not the only ones enjoying the free pizza, drinks and gifts at Saturday’s event.

One of the parents at the event, Nicole Hulbert, said, “you don’t have many people doing things like this but it is nice to have this.”

Another parent said, “It’s nice to have things like this, many people don’t think to do these things so it is nice.”

Usually, the kids’ carnival is held in the capital, but IL cares founder, Sebas Bastian, expressed that it was always a part of his company’s mandate to venture into other islands, and he thought it was only fitting to start with Grand Bahama.

“If you look at The Bahamas, everyone is in need and as a responsible corporate citizen we always have to make sure our outreach meets as many people as possible, and Grand Bahama was number one on our list,” Bastian said.

He added that this is the first of many more kids’ carnivals in Grand Bahama and the Foundation will eventually move to other islands.

The kids’ carnival in Nassau will be held this Saturday, Dec. 15 at Clifford Park, from noon to 4:00 p.m.
