Hanna-Martin questions entry of Americans, ‘bring Bahamians home now’
Former Transport and Aviation Minister Glenys Hanna Martin

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Englerston MP Glenys Hanna-Martin this morning questioned the government’s decision to reportedly allow two Americans – who are permanent residents – into the country amid border shutdown.

Health Minister Dr Duane Sands reportedly confirmed the entry to The Nassau Guardian in an article published today.

The two residents are reportedly being quarantined at home.

Sands told Eyewitness Newss a statement will be released on the matter later today.

“When will our Bahamians be allowed to return to their land?,” Hanna-Martin said in a Facebook post.

“Unlike the Americans, it is said they must be first tested and placed in quarantine facilities under RBDF guard. Are others subjected to a lower standard?

“Enough of this. Bring our people home now.”

Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis announced on Monday that the government will facilitate the return of Bahamians who remain in the U.S. due to the global spread of COVID-19.

Those Bahamians will have to be tested for the virus before they can board a flight home.

The government is in the process of securing a designated facility for all those individuals returning home to be quarantine for 14-days. The facility will be guarded and protected by the defence force.

This is a developing story.

This action does not support the Bahamian people for the government to allow Americans into the country but not prioritize the return of theor own people into their country.

So the 2 Americans can come back and quarantine home, with it being unclear if they were tested negative or not. But Bahamians who have tested negative for covid-19 must be quarantined in a guarded facility. What kind of bullshit is this that we always get treated the worst in our own country.

Apparently if an American brings 2500 test kits on an airplane, they can stay. Oh, the nurse said they “looked” like they didn’t have the virus. So that is how Americans beat Bahamians back into their own country.

This is not right. How can the government not only allow persons that have tested positive for Covid-19 to quarantine at home and then allow two Americans to come into the country and also quarantine at home. I am stranded in the United States and if I want to come home to the Bahamas, I have to come on a government approved flight and be humiliated as if I were a common criminal in a quarantine facility under armed guard. Are you kidding me? My question is: Can I quarantine in the comfort of my own home if I bring in much needed medical supplies on a private aircraft? Or maybe if I test positive for the virus, then I can be in my home and not in a guarded facility?

You no Minnis always say politicians work for us the Bahamian people .So Bahamians should get together and demand that he be fired for letting foreigners do as they like and our brother and sisters be charged for every little curfew and foreigners pay nothing for breaking or laws

Y’all notice how the airport was guarded to day to escort the Bahamian people to lock down But the foreigners was free to do as they
