Hield became NBA player to make 1K three-pointers in fastest time

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Newly-appointed Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Iram Lewis yesterday extended congratulations to Chavano “Buddy” Hield for his outstanding, record-breaking accomplishment in making National Basketball Association (NBA) history as the fastest player to reach 1,000 three-pointers.

Hield, who plays the forward position for the Sacramento Kings, achieved the historic feat in his 350th NBA game against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, February 28, 2021, surpassing Golden State Warriors Guard Stephen Curry, who accomplished the same feat in 369 games.

In a statement, Lewis noted: “Hield continues to excel in the game with a bright future ahead for him.

“The government and the people of The Bahamas applaud Mr Chavano ‘Buddy’ Hield for his outstanding performance and dedication to representing The Bahamas in a superlative manner on the international circuit. We are truly proud.

“Once again, on behalf of the government of The Bahamas, it is my esteemed pleasure as the minister of youth, sports and culture to convey congratulations on his stellar performance. We wish him continued success on the road ahead.”
