Despite posting solid numbers last season, Tampa Bay Rays prospect Lucius Fox is looking to make some improvements to his game over the next few months in the Arizona Fall League.

Through eight games with the Peoria Javelinas, Fox is hitting .412 with six stolen bases, five Runs Batted In (RBI) and one home run.

The 21-year-old has displayed that made him such a highly touted recruit over the course of the past eight games, however, he’s hoping to improve his power after hitting just three home runs in Class A Advanced Charlotte and Double-A Montgomery last season.

“I want to hit for more power, more doubles and home runs. I like where I’m at with stolen bases and putting the ball in play, so hopefully I can get into some balls and hit more homers and doubles,” Fox said.

“On the defensive side, just make the routine play. Every shortstop in the Major Leagues makes the routine play so that’s one side I’m working on.

“I want to get on base every time for my time. I just want to get on to help us score as much runs as possible. The Rays are an organization that is committed to the youth movement, and I’m glad I can be a part of it.”

Fox was a key part of the Montgomery Biscuits team that made it to the Southern League semi-finals. The Biscuits finished 2018 with the second-most wins in team history (79-6). His run with the Montgomery was Fox’s first Double-A level assignment. In 27 games with the team, Fox his .221 with a .284 On Base Percentage (OBP), four stolen bases, 23 hits, three doubles and 14 runs scored.
