Four more COVID deaths confirmed, 72 new cases

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Ministry of Health has confirmed 72 new cases of COVID-19, along with four more COVID-related deaths.

Three of the deaths were women from New Providence aged, 46, 61, and 71, and passed away between August 26 and August 31.

A 61-year-old man from Exuma died on August 30.

The four COVID-related deaths have reduced the number of fatalities under investigation to 10.

Officials also confirmed another non-COVID-related death, but did not release any details on the patient.

Of the new cases, there were 58 in New Providence, nine in Abaco, and five in Grand Bahama.

The figures were released early this morning in the ministry’s dashboard for Tuesday, Sept 8.

The total number of cases now stands at 2,657.

Of those cases, there were 1,725 in New Providence, 589 in Grand Bahama, 95 in Abaco, 54 in Bimini, 23 in Exuma, 15 in the Berry Islands, 13 in Inagua, eight in Cat Island, eight in Eleuthera, eight in Long Island, seven in Acklins, three in Andros, two in Crooked Island, and two in Mayaguana.

There are 105 confirmed cases with locations pending.

The Ministry of Health has advised that the Fleming Street Clinic will temporarily close Wednesday due to “circumstances beyond our control” and reopen Thursday.

The ministry apologized for the inconvenience in a statement, adding all other clinics remain open.
