NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A fire destroyed the old Wong’s Food Store building on East Bay Street on Wednesday morning.
According to Director of Fire Services, Walter Evans, every fire truck on the island was used to contain the blaze and off duty fire staff were also called in.
Evans said the fire started around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday on the corner of Bay and Deveaux Street and quickly spread to neighbouring buildings. However, firefighters were able to contain the blaze and minimize damage.
The cause of the fire is unknown and investigations continue.
