A father/son duo and an 18-year-old were among a five-man line-up arraigned in court for murder yesterday.
Shawntino Rolle, 23, was charged with the February 22 murder of David Nelson. Rolle was also charged with stealing 5,399 pounds of crawfish with a value of $70,000 from Gulf Stream Foods, stealing a 2002 Mitsubishi, two counts of shop breaking and one count of receiving.
His father, Shawn Rolle, 44, was charged with accessory after the fact. The pair was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
Nelson, a security guard, was discovered at the sea food processing plant by police with visible injuries about his lifeless body last month. Police have not released his official cause of death.
The men, who were not required to enter a plea, accused Central Detective Unit (CDU) officers of placing plastic bags over their heads and beating them with phone books.
Both were remanded to the Department of Corrections until April 24.
Eighteen-year-old Malik Fernander, was charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
Court dockets allege Fenrander – being concerned with another – caused the deaths of Rashad Bethel and B’Journ Symonette and attempted to murder Roland Brown on February 16.
According to police, a group of people was at a residence on Saffron Street when two men opened fire, hitting three of them, before fleeing on foot. One man died at the scene and another a short time later in hospital.
Stephan Mackey, 27, was also charged with the murder of Jenton Smith on February 27.
Police say Smith was about to enter his Yellow Elder Gardens home around 11:00 p.m. on the day in question when he was approached by two men who shot him and fled the area. He died on the scene.
Both Fernander and Mackey were remanded to the department of corrections until May 9.
Christopher Blyden was also arraigned on one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.
Blyden is accused of the murder of Rico Taylor and the attempted to murder Anfernee Major and Jarvis Joseph on February 9, while at a night club off Poinciana Drive.
Blyden was remanded to the Department of Corrections until April 12 for a voluntary bill of indictment.
