Eight appear in court on fraud-related charges

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Eight persons were charged before Magistrate Ambrose Armbrister on Friday with possession of forged documents, uttering a forged document and fraud by false pretenses.

Prosecutors alleged that between May and June of 2017, Trene Leadon, Shikera Youte, Carl Fisher, Melissa Evans, Vandiss Rolle, Shanti Moxey, Erica Gibson and Reniqua Bowe presented documents to Easy Terms Loans Limited with job letters from the Ministry of Education, which were said to be false.

The defendants allegedly received $5,000 each from the loan agency by false pretenses.

The eight persons all pleaded guilty to the charges and they were ordered by Magistrate Ambrose to repay Easy Loans Limited  by December 3rd of this year.
