Aaron Edgecombe, a recent graduate of Queen’s College, is the country’s newest merit scholar.
Edgecombe was celebrated at Government House Thursday night for his outstanding academic achievements.
The rising star sat 12 Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) examinations scoring 11 As and one B.
Edgecombe told Eyewitness News that balancing academics and extracurricular activities was quite the task, but said he followed two simple steps to ensure that he came out on top.
He walked away with $140,000 toward pursuing electrical engineering at the University of Miami.
Shelean Burrows, acting administrator within the scholarship department at the Ministry of Education, told Eyewitness News, that the scholarship programme awards nearly $17 million in scholarships annually and shared what it meant to have a young man win the award.
