Drug seizure at LPIA

A drug find at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) Tuesday afternoon has landed one American man in police custody.

According to police reports Drug Enforcement (DEU) officers, assisted by K-9 Unit Officers and United States (U.S.) Border Control officers proceeded to the U.S. departure lounge of LPIA and conducted a search of a flight that was prepared for departure.

Police uncovered a quantity of suspected cocaine, police confirmed.

All passengers were made to disembark the aircraft.

Police then conducted a further check of the aircraft and proceeded to search the male restroom in the LPIA departure lounge as well.

Their search of the restroom area revealed another quantity of suspected cocaine, authorities said.

Police arrested an American man in connection with their find.

Authorities confirmed that the suspected drug-peddler is expected to face charges in the Magistrate Court later this week.
