Drug bust and ammunition seizures continue

Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) officers made another successful drug and ammunition seizure Wednesday.

The first discovery occurred on Exuma sometime around 2:30 p.m. yesterday, police confirmed.

Exuma Division officers, assisted by RBPF Marine Support Services officers, conducted a search of a bushy area at the rear of a building in the Harts settlement.

Authorities confirm the search uncovered an AK-47 rifle and a clip.

The second discovery, police said, happened less than two hours later in New Providence.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, DEU officers conducted a search of a bushy area on Stack Avenue, Nassau Village.

Police said officers recovered a 9-millimeter pistol and three rounds of ammunition.

A pillow case with suspected marijuana was also uncovered.

Reports indicate the drugs weighed 4.2 pounds, with an estimated street value of $4, 000.

No arrests were made in these incidents, and investigations are said to be ongoing.

Armed Robbery

Meantime, investigators are probing a late night armed robbery, which police said, took place in Garden Hills Wednesday.

According to police, shortly after 11:00 p.m., a man was standing on Lily Lane, Garden Hills, when he was approached by two armed men.

The two men apparently came from bushes and robbed the man of his 2009 black Chevrolet Cobalt and a cell phone, police said.

Police confirmed that the culprits made good their escape in the vehicle.

Investigations are said to be ongoing in this matter.
