NASSAU, BAHAMAS – As the celebratory mode for the Christmas season is presently in high gear; attending a ball, a casual office party, or even Junkanoo calls for dressing to the nines from head to toe.
And as many persons struggle with the idea of ‘what to wear’, Divas Ink on West Bay Street is eager to offer a vast selection of stylish outfits to ensure that persons are dressed to impress this holiday season.
Divas Ink clothing has been in operation for the past 20 years.
The store’s proprietor, Monalisa McPhee, said her customers are more than pleased with this year’s Christmas collection and sales thus far have been successful.
“Customers are looking at ball gowns as it is ball season. It’s also Christmas party season, [Christmas] work parties and just parties in general. We’ve had a lot more sales this year, I must say,” McPhee said, adding that this year, more customers were shopping for high-end ball gowns than the casual Christmas clothing.
McPhee did state, however, that Divas Ink is well equipped to dress its clients for a casual night out or a themed office party as the store caters to persons from all walks of life.
“My clientele is more settled but I definitely do have young people that patronize the store,” McPhee said.
Leading up to next winter season, Divas Ink clothing store plans to showcase its collection on the runway.
“We’re already in the planning stage for a fall fashion show. We plan to shut down West Bay Street and put on a show that is not only glamorous but [one that has] never been seen before,” McPhee revealed.
The Divas Ink proprietor said her store has also partnered with five Bahamian entrepreneurs to offer some of their goods in her store this Christmas season. She said helping Bahamian entrepreneurs to thrive and become just as successful as she is, is her passion.
McPhee, therefore, showcases a number of Bahamian-made and owned items such as Bahems shoes, earrings by CLW Designs and the I’land straw shoes. Shoppers can also find Bahamian- made candles, straw bags and so much more.
McPhee said these items make the perfect stocking stuffers or small Christmas gifts.
