Cruise ship passenger allegedly drowns off Great Stirrup Cay

Investigators are probing the alleged drowning of a man near Great Stirrup Cay in the Berry Islands – the second incident of its kind in the last week.

Police said it was after 1:00 p.m. when a man, who was reportedly a passenger on a cruise ship, was discovered unresponsive floating in waters off the cay.

He was removed from the water and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was rendered. The man was transported to the local clinic where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Last week a Chinese woman allegedly drowned on the same cay.

Investigations are said to be ongoing in both matters.

My condolence go out to the family members of both incident. How many more innocent passenger need to die before Norwegian Cruise wake up, two passengers died within one week, at same location. All they care is money, money, money, you pay for photos, bottle waters, alcohols, internet, casino, auctions. spa. Why not offer free courses on CPR on board? It might save one life in the future. Sadly, we were less the 25ft from the incident, and didn’t realize anything was happening until the life guard was running into the water. If you witnessed this, you would’ve noticed they tried and tried to revive this man. Such a tragic loss. RIP to this man, and our condolences to his family

I was on the beach with the young woman they did not have any proper equipment to work with. The lady passenger that was doing CPR she knew more than the medical staff which was a darn shame. I wrote in to Norwegian Guest Relations and they responded back with a dumb sorry behind excuse.
