Zero new cases recorded in NP on Monday
NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Bahamas has recorded more than 7,000 cases of COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health reported an additional 28 cases on Monday, bringing the total number of cases in The Bahamas to 7,012.
Of the new cases, there were 10 in Eleuthera, nine in Exuma, six in Grand Bahama, one in Abaco.
There were no new infections recorded in New Providence, where the majority of the population resides — a first for the island in months after experiencing a surge in July.
A total of 5,308 cases have recorded in New Providence, 817 in Grand Bahama, 180 in Abaco, 61 in Bimini and Cat Cay, 127 in Eleuthera, 42 in the Berry Islands, 60 in Exuma, 19 in Inagua, 17 in Andros, 11 in Long Island, eight in Cat Island, seven in Acklins, six in Crooked Island, three in Mayaguana and 346 with location pending.
As of Monday, there were 1,766 active cases.
A total of 5,035 cases have recovered.
This means The Bahamas’ recovery rate stands at just shy of 72 percent.
Another 92 cases recovered on Monday.
There were 35 hospitalized cases on Monday.
Confirmed deaths stand at 154.
Another 27 deaths remain under investigation.
A total of 38,297 tests have been performed.
On Monday, 110 tests were conducted.
Of these, 80 returned negative results and two were repeat tests.
This reflects a positivity rate of 25 percent.
Health officials and Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis have acknowledged that with the country’s tourism reopening cases are expected to rise.
He said the public must get accustomed to tightening and easing restrictive measures as this occurs.
