Corporate and civic organizations help ready inner city kids for school today

Numerous  civic and community organizations held back-to-school events throughout New Providence, to help as best they could hundreds of less fortunate students prepare for the start of the 2018/2019 school year.

Eyewitness News caught up with several of those groups over the weekend, including mTech Computer Company, which partnered with the Rotoract Club of East Nassau, on Kennedy Sub Division Park. The company not only provided free back to school supplies, but also fun and games for students before the school work begins.

Eyewitness News also went to Dumping Ground corner for a back-to-school extravaganza, hosted by the Uplifting Youths Organization.

The group held the event on George Brown Park and offered free hair braiding, free haircuts and also gave out more than 200 back packs to those in need.

K Melvin Munroe , one of the event organizers said, he felt it was his responsibility to give back, after “making it out” of the inner city.
