Cornish posts career-best game on Stony Brook win
Jaron Cornish.

Stony Brook University guard Jaron Cornish had a career night on Saturday in a 75-65 win over UMASS Lowell.

The senior poured in 30 points in the game, the best by any Seawolves player this season.

He also had six rebounds and four steals.

“I think the big key was Jaron Cornish was phenomenal,” Stony Brook coach Jeff Boals said after the game.

“To be 20-5 right now with the schedule that we’ve played, I just couldn’t be happier with our guys.”

Cornish’s big night was highlighted by a personal 9-0 run that shifted the momentum of the game in the second half.

“I wouldn’t say I needed to take charge, but I had a hot hand and my teammates were finding me, and they were telling me to go and keep going,” Cornish said.

The game marked Stoney Brook’s 20th win of the season. After reaching the 20-win mark for five consecutive years, the team failed to meet the mark the previous two seasons.
