Sir Victor Sassoon Foundation anticipates annual Heart Ball restart

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — For over 50 years, the Sir Victor Sassoon Bahamas Heart Foundation has provided financial assistance to Bahamian children who need heart surgeries.

However, the non-profit organization’s leading fundraiser — the Annual Heart Ball — has been paused for nearly two years due to COVID-19 restrictions. This has left the foundation even more dependent on other fundraising initiatives and corporate sponsors like CIBC FirstCaribbean.

A cheque recently presented by the bank’s Sandyport Branch Senior Branch Manager Quarindo Davis will assist in the foundation’s efforts to “mend hearts and save lives”.

“In the 50-plus years that the Sir Victor Sassoon Bahamas Heart Foundation has been operational, financial support has varied,” said Davis.

“But, unfortunately, there has been no shortage in the number of Bahamian children in need of life-saving heart surgeries.

“Knowing this, CIBC FirstCaribbean is gratified to contribute to the foundation’s very worthy cause.

“Thank you, Sir Victor Sassoon Bahamas Heart Foundation, for your consistent fundraising efforts that help so many families.”

As “Heart Month” is observed every February — the month the Annual Heart Ball is usually held — the foundation anticipates that the resumption of the event is near, but still needs donations, which can be made through its website http://www.sassoonheartfoundation.org.

Contributions can be made in honor of individuals who have been impacted by cardiovascular disease, in celebration of those who have had a successful heart treatment as well as in support of cardiovascular research and educational programmes dedicated to the fight against heart disease and stroke.

The foundation is calling for more financial support from corporate Bahamas and civic-minded residents.

Donations such as the one made by CIBC FirstCaribbean will support the Sir Victor Sassoon Bahamas Heart Foundation’s mission to assist young children in leading healthy and rewarding lives.
