Purdue senior Devynne Charlton was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Year yesterday.
The award is voted on by the conference coaches. Charlton won three Big Ten titles and was the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) runner-up in the 100-metre (m) hurdles this outdoor season.
Charlton, who won the award for the second year in a row, capped off her collegiate career with a second place finish in the women’s 100m hurdles in 12.77 seconds at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She was the highest finisher on the track of any individual in the conference.
Charlton dominated the Big Ten championships, winning the 100m dash, 100m hurdles and was a member of the gold-medal 4x100m relay team – a performance, which earned her the Big Ten Track Athlete of the Championships.
