Case of Paralegal adjourned as she was a no-show in court

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Jeleah Turnquest, a 34-year-old paralegal of Soldier Road was a no-show yesterday in Deputy Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain’s court.

Turnquest was charged earlier this year for stealing by reason of service. According to prosecutors, she allegedly stole $346,500 dollars from foreign buyers in a property sale.

Turnquest pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded to The Bahamas Department of Corrections. However, she has since been released on bail through application in the Supreme Court.

Turnquest’s lawyer, Bjorn Ferguson, presented a sick note yesterday in court to explain her absence and the matter has been adjourned until June 25th.
