Offensive lineman Michael Cartwright decommitted from the Indiana University (IU) yesterday.
Cartwright, who currently plays for the Champagnat High School out of Florida, took to social media to make the announcement.
The three-star prospect was one of seven players from Florida in the Hoosiers’ 2019 recruiting class.
“I would like to thank Indiana for recruiting me during my recruiting process and the entire Indiana coaching staff for making me feel like family the whole time,” Cartwright’s statement read. “But today I will be decommitting from Indiana and reopening my recruitment for me to re-evaluate everything and to make the best decision for me as a person, player and, most importantly, a student.”
Cartwright committed to Indi in late July, choosing IU over offers from Nebraska, Southern Mississippi and Florida Atlantic University (FAU) among others.
In February, 247 Sports named Cartwright as a top performer after his showing at The Opening regional scouting event in Miami.
“Cartwright has the length to play tackle, and he won his fair share of one-on-one reps,” 247 Sports’ Luke Stampini wrote. “It’s clear Cartwright is still developing as a player, but from what he showed on Sunday, his offer list should grow throughout the spring.”
