CARIFTA title sponsor goes high-tech

FLOW, the sister company of telecom giant Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC), brought the convenience of watching the 2018 CARIFTA Games to mobile users via its new app BTC/Flow Sports.

The app, which is available to any BTC customer that uses a smartphone, provided uninterrupted live streaming of the three-day sporting event.

“People want to be able to watch sports anywhere, anytime. It’s very easy to get it as well. Three simple steps. You download the app, enter your location and your number and that’s it. It doesn’t get easier than that,” shared Carol Barnett, BTC Senior Manager for Advertising & Promotions.

“It’s very important that we are always on the cutting edge of technology. We are a technology company, so introducing these apps and all the great things that we have lined up for the future, will definitely keep us on the cutting edge and in tune with what consumers want and need.”

The FLOW executive explained how the company strategically marketed the sports app at the 2018 CARIFTA Games in an effort to remain on trend with consumer demand.

The 2018 CARIFTA Games attracted a large capture audience; which provided FLOW the opportunity to connect with a tech-savvy demographic.

The games brought together an estimated 500 athletes and 150 team officials from 26 countries.

“You know the app not only offers live streaming of CARIFTA, but it also has wrestling and other sporting activities that are provided through FLOW Sports. So, the response has been great so far,” said Barnett.

“People like the fact that they can watch the games from wherever they are and we realize that there are a lot of sports enthusiast. So, as you’d imagine, they are very excited about this app.”

She continued, “FLOW will continue to revolutionize the way consumers experience our products and we have no doubt that by the time as the 2019 IAAF World Relays rolls around, we would have enhanced our product offerings and things would be even better than they are now.”

FLOW created a VIP lounge for customers attending the three-day event.

Outfitted with branded FLOW flags, throw rugs, balloons and jumbo television screens – the company not only used the opportunity to market the sports app, but it also offered additional product specials.

“We do have phone specials this weekend and also a FLOW special – which we have never had before – so this is all an effort to introduce our products and services to consumers in an exciting and friendly environment here at the CARIFTA Games,” said Barnett.
