Students of the Junior Councilors programme for local government were celebrated by the Minister of Transport of Local Government Frankie Campbell Thursday morning at the Breezes resort.

Fifteen local government districts from North Abaco, North Andros, Berry Islands, Bimini District, Cat Island, Freeport, Eleuthera and Exuma were all under the umbrella of the government’s junior council programme.

The councilors have been in their local communities on projects like the Bimini Public Library clean-up Baily Town park clean up, and Give-aways at Christmas Carol Service.

Campbell who celebrated the students encouraged them to remain steadfast in learning more leadership skills reminding them they are the future of the country.

“People always say that you are the future, I want to tell you that the future is now,” said Campbell.

“You don’t have the luxury of participating tomorrow. The Bahamas needs your participation now.

“Be like Samuel in the Bible and say, ‘Here I am’. Lend a deaf ear to negativity and all the pessimism and all those who wish to lead you down the wrong path. You’ve had the benefit of participating in real life experience via this programme.

“What you do with it is up to you, but remember that The Bahamas needs you.”
