More homes to be “fiberized” in Carmichael

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — With schools opening in just a few days, BTC continues to execute its aggressive fiber-to-the-home broadband rollout to deliver elevated speeds to at least 3,000 more families to ensure students have access to classes.

In addition to its Flamingo Gardens upgrade, BTC is working arduously to deliver up to 600Mbps of super-fast broadband speeds to thousands of customers in the Carmichael corridor.

BTC CEO Andre Foster said: “Our students are returning to school in a virtual setting for a second year. As the leading telecoms provider, we know how important it is for students to have dependable connectivity services.

“Our teams have literally worked every single day over the last year and a half to expand our fiber-to-the-home network across the country and communities are benefitting from the upgrade. We are now working in the populated Carmichael Road corridor, where more than 3,000 new customers will benefit from upgraded broadband speeds.”

The communities to be upgraded include portions of Coral Harbour, Faith Avenue, Gladstone Road, Bacardi Road, Cowpen Road and Carmichael Road West. These upgrades are scheduled to be completed in August, and customers can contact CALL-BTC (225-5282) or send a message to WhatsApp Chat-Bot to sign up for services.

Customers are currently eligible for three months of their existing landline service free when signing up for BTC’s broadband services.

Foster continued: “We’ve made our offers cost-effective for parents. When signing up for BTC+ plans, customers will receive two Samsung devices, and new internet customers will also receive a free Samsung Galaxy A7 tablet.

“This is a great deal for parents getting their children ready for back-to-school. Even residents that don’t have school-aged children can take advantage of this offer and gift the tablet to a relative or another child in need in the community.”

BTC’s fiber-to-the-home services extends throughout Flamingo Gardens, Sunshine Park, Sea Beach Estates, Tropical Gardens, Yuma Estates, Westridge North, pockets of Carmichael Road and the entire Eastern New Providence; Black Point, Farmers Hill and Staniel Cay on Exuma; Eight Mile Rock, Fortune Bay, Lucaya, Martin Town, Lincoln Green, Royal Bahamia, Silver Cove and Freeport on Grand Bahama; Dundas Town, Murphy Town, Marsh Harbour and the surrounding cays on Abaco; San Salvador; Crooked Island; Rum Cay; Ragged Island; Bimini; portions of Eleuthera; and Hawk’s Nest on Cat Island.

Work continues in Marshall Road, Misty Gardens, Shrimp Road and Hamster Road on New Providence, and the company expects to complete these areas by October.
