Bastian makes 100 breast semifinal, Carey competes in 100 backstroke

Two of the three members of the team representing The Bahamas at the 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships were in action yesterday in Budapest.

Izaak Bastian competed in the opening heat of the 100-meter (m) breaststroke, qualifying for the semi-final round in 1:02.55. In that semi-final, he finished 11th overall with a new personal-best time of 1:01.99.

Davante Carey swam in the opening heat 100m backstroke and finished 51st overall in 59.03 seconds. Lamar Taylor was also scheduled to compete in the 100 backstroke heats, but he never got in the pool for The Bahamas.

Bastian and Carey will compete in a total of four events each at the meet, while Taylor is scheduled for five. in four events each. Bastian will take part in the 50, 100 and 200m breaststroke events. In addition, he will swim in the 50m freestyle event.

Carey is slated for the 50 and 100m backstroke events, and the 50 and 100m butterfly events, and Taylor will be in the 50 and 100m freestyle events, the 50 and 100m backstroke events, and the 50m butterfly.
