NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation, in just one day, generated revenue of $14,270.75 at the opening of its 2019 Pop-Up Farmers Market on Gladstone road last Saturday, January 19.

This number is a record by several thousand when compared to any Pop-Up held in 2018, according to a statement released Monday from Executive Chairman of BAIC, Michael Foulkes.

“Last January, we had revenue of only $1,100,” Foulkes said.

“We saw many of our faithful customers from 2018, for the first time this year, and we were pleased that we had considerable produce for them. The staff was most excited and enthused about returning to the Pop-Up Farmers Market and commencing a new year,” Foulkes said.

“We warmly and graciously thank our valued customers who returned to the Pop-Up Farmers Market in massive numbers…  It was good to see so many of our old friends from 2018 and to meet a number of persons who visited us for the first time. Many of them indicated that they are looking forward to visiting next Saturday, 26 January.”

Foulkes also thanked the BAIC staff for exemplary performance as well as Family Island farmers for providing fresh, affordable Bahamian grown produce.

The Gladstone Road Pop-Up will be held this Saturday, January 26, for the remainder of this year.
