Bahamian track athletes performing well

Several Bahamian collegiate track and field athletes had strong showings at various indoor meets across the United States this weekend.

At the Purdue University’s Fred Wilt Invitational, University of The Bahamas athlete Ken Mullings set a new heptathlon national record with a total of 5426.

Washington State University jumper Charisma Taylor tallied another victory on the season at the 2019 Cougar Indoor Classic. This time in the 60-meter (m) hurdles with a time of 8.48 seconds. She was also second in the 60m dash in 7.65 seconds.

Representing Highland Community College at the Fred Belie Classic, Coshan Campbell won the women’s 800m in a new school record of 2:15.25. She also tallied a silver-medal finish with the 4×400 team that clocked 4:03.30. At the same meet, Onnieika Rolle finished third in the women’s 60 and 200 in 7.86 and 26.40 seconds respectfully.

And at the JD Martin Invitational, Sasha Roberts, representing Oral Roberts University, won the women’s 60m hurdles in 8.55 seconds. Bradley Dormeus, also from ORU, won the men’s 400 in 48.58 seconds.
