NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Bahamian photographer Stanley Babb has been named by internationally renowned fashion magazine Harper’s BAZAAR as one of the top 62 wedding photographers in the world.

The publication titled ‘BAZAAR Bride’s Little Black Book: The Top Wedding Photographers in the World’, was released on digital platforms on Thursday, and named the “best shooters and studios to capture every moment of your wedding day”.

“These are the photographers we recommend when asked and those we trust to capture the portraits, moments, and details of life’s most sentimental events,” wrote Harpers BAZAAR’s Wedding and Travel Director Carrie Goldberg and Contributing Weddings Writer Heather Hall.

“Some of them have shot the most exclusive celebrity weddings; others are the go-to’s for the ‘It’ girl and fashion set…”

Speaking with Eyewitness News, Babb, the founder of Stanlo Photography, said that the recognition as a world-class wedding photographer from the esteemed magazine was “surreal” and had not fully set in.

“It feels really good and honestly it just feels unreal as someone coming from The Bahamas compared to; you know, I know a lot of people in the United States and even a lot of people I know in the community are not recognized on it, so it is an unreal feeling,” Babb said, recalling being contacted by BAZAAR

“You know something happens and people reach out to you for different stuff and for whatever reason it just never comes out. It was just one of those things where like every step in the process it was like, this is happening.”

Babb, who resides in Miramar, Florida, has traveled the world, capturing his clients on one of the most important days of their lives — a role he approaches with careful planning, foresight and creativity to create a special experience.

The photo included on BAZAAR’s list, which features a Bahamian groom and his bride embracing in a kiss from atop the Horse Shoe Bend Overlook, the east rim of the Grand Canyon, is no different.

Babb said he researched the location for well over a year, and when all the moving parts came together on the day of the shoot, which involved a half-mile hike, he knew it was something special.

Asked for his advice to young and up-and-coming photographers, videographers and media personnel, Babb stressed the importance of mastering the craft and persisting with each aspect of it, including learning new skills, and thinking beyond a particular jurisdiction in favor of a global perspective.
