Bahamas Maritime launches new website in celebration of World Maritime Day

The National Maritime Policy Implementation Committee (NMPIC) launched its new website on Wednesday.

The site – Maritime Matters’  – will provide the public with pertinent information related to maritime-related matters.

During a press conference held yesterday at Manx Corporate Center on West Bay Street, NMPIC representative covered the website and how it works.

“The purpose of the website is to provide the public with a central hub that amalgamates maritime-related matters, disseminates the National Maritime Policy and increases public awareness and education of marine and maritime-based initiatives,” NMPIC representative stated.

In celebration of World Maritime Day, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) committee is observing 70 years since the convention establishing the organization was adopted.

Additionally, the website seeks to give the public access to information, press releases, services, legislation, educational programs, training, scholarships and job opportunities regarding the maritime, marine environment and fishery industries.

The press release given at the press conference read, “NMPIC believes that through Public Private Partnership, The Bahamas can create sustainable growth and development of our oceans for generations to come, whilst building capacity and providing opportunities for Bahamians locally, regionally and internationally.”
